Martin Clancy brings over 30 years of experience in the design and management of major United Kingdom building projects to Viñoly and has been responsible for the successful delivery of award-winning buildings for a range of clients. As head of the Manchester office, Mr. Clancy oversees all UK projects outside of London and utilizes his expertise to communicate effectively with project team members from clients, project managers, and consultants to contractors and specialist subcontractors.
Mr. Clancy joined Viñoly as Project Manager for the City Football Academy in Manchester, which opened in 2014. As an office director, he is responsible for the management and day-to-day operations of the architectural team in Manchester and is currently Project Director for the University of Manchester’s Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre. Mr. Clancy assigns development of the design documentation through the work phases and identifies, schedules, and monitors specific tasks in conjunction with all consultants. In addition to management responsibilities, he participates in the resolution of all technical and design decisions, develops project standards, and resolves design issues consistent with the overall standards of the firm.
Mr. Clancy works closely with the project managers and contractors in order to drive a successful conclusion to the construction process with transformation of the design objectives into built solutions. His particular expertise is in team management and project delivery, driving the design and delivery of large, complex developments, where he has been responsible for completion of award-winning, retail-led regeneration over several phases. His experience covers a wide range of building types, including, most recently, civic and sports complexes, and academic and research facilities. He also has previous experience in healthcare, retail and offices, hospitality, and residences.
