David Hodge has over 15 years of experience at Viñoly, delivering large-scale sports, research, residential, and mixed-use projects on time and on budget. He has overseen design and construction for several notable projects, including City Football Academy in Manchester, United Kingdom; The Rockefeller University River Campus & Health and Fitness Center in New York, New York, USA; Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn, Virginia, USA, and University of Pennsylvania, Center for Advanced Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.
Mr. Hodge is recognized for a comprehensive management approach that combines international experience in Australia, China, the United Kingdom, the UAE, and Qatar with on-site experience at four of the firm’s largest projects in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New York. His hands-on methodology is based on experience in the design, coordination, and detailing of nearly every building system.
He recently completed the City Football Academy, a youth and elite professional training center for the Manchester City Football Club. He coordinated daily with the client, development manager, 33 subconsultant disciplines, planning officials, and contractors to take the fast-track design/build project from Master Plan to Construction Documentation in 16 months, a feat that required the establishment and supervision of a 30-person project office. Following this, he oversaw the New York City Football Club Training Facility in New York, USA and the Melbourne City Football Club training facility in Melbourne, Australia.
Mr. Hodge’s on-site work culminated at the award-winning Howard Hughes Medical Institute with the installation of a 37,160-square-meter (400,000-square-foot) green roof, one of the largest in the U.S.. He has lectured widely on sustainable vegetated roofs and assisted the 2005 Rafael Viñoly Research Fellow to conceive, design, and implement a patented modular green roof system at Stevenson High School in the Bronx, New York, USA.
