Rafael Viñoly Architects and the Harlem Academy

Rafael Viñoly Architects is proud of its ongoing collaboration with the Harlem Academy – an independent school that prepares students from underserved communities for success at top secondary schools and lifelong learning – on an architecture studio for the academy’s eighth grade students. Volunteers from Rafael Viñoly Architects’ team work with students over a semester on architectural principles through analysis, abstract exercises, and building-design problems. Photos shown here are of this year’s students’ project work in progress and class critique sessions. Students will be preparing final models in the coming weeks for the program’s culmination at Rafael Viñoly Architects’ headquarters, where students will present his or her design and model to a panel of architects.
