IBM Argentina Central Offices

Buenos Aires, Argentina

1970 22,000 m²

The design for the Argentine headquarters of IBM combines three primary elements: a glass volume enclosing the office floors and appearing to float above the building’s base; an adjacent concrete core housing the building services; and an exterior concrete grid structure from which the glass volume is suspended. The minimal, abstract aspect of the structural cage enclosing the glass and concrete elements within lends a sculptural quality to the composition as a whole.
