Town Hall
Town Hall
Ayacucho, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina
1964 2,600 m²Sited on the traditional central square of a small city, this new town hall is distinguished by its extensive roof, which shelters pedestrians from the sun and seems to float over the building and parts of the plaza. A large open staircase, also protected by the roof, gives access to a covered roof terrace. By effectively extending the public area of the plaza to the building’s roof, the design encourages informal every-day use of a government facility.
