Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia1985 1,850 m²
This large family residence, which includes a master bedroom, children’s suites, guestrooms, extensive service areas, and a three-car garage, was also designed to accommodate frequent entertaining. In addition to the open courtyard that serves as the house’s core, reception areas include a shaded rear court, a living room, a dining room, and a rear veranda.
The central courtyard – covered by a louvered wood-framed pyramid – functions as the ceremonial entrance to the house, at the end of a long tree-lined driveway. The main floor features a large living room occupying an open interior space that mirrors the exterior court, and a symmetrical central staircase. Residential areas are housed on two higher levels accessible via corridors and stairways originating in the interior court. The attached veranda affords panoramic views from the house’s rear façade.
